How to choose transport software: twelve questions, and the honest answers for NShine ERP
Every vendor says "end to end". Ask these twelve questions on the demo and watch the screen, not the slide. Below each one is what NShine ERP does, including the three things it does not do.
*No credit card required
The twelve questions
Ask | Why it matters | NShine ERP |
|---|---|---|
Is the invoice raised from the LR? | Otherwise the clerk types every trip twice | Yes; pick the LRs on the invoice form |
Can a hired truck be billed from the same booking? | Brokers and mixed fleets live on this | Yes; the owner is the supplier; his bill comes from the booking |
Do drivers need an app? | Most will not install one | No; WhatsApp into AI Inbox; the app is optional per driver |
Does fuel come out as cost per km per truck? | That is where the money leaks | Yes; every fill with odometer; efficiency report and dashboard chart |
Are TDS and RCM on the invoice? | Year-end reconciliation otherwise | Yes; tax rate, HSN, RCM, TDS on customer and supplier invoices; reports |
Are the books inside, double-entry? | Or you keep a second system | Yes; day book to balance sheet; vouchers; chart of accounts |
Can my CA keep Tally? | He will not change | Yes; one-way export to TallyPrime |
Can I import my Excel? | A week of typing otherwise | Yes; AI Data Import with row checks and your confirm |
Does it use my existing GPS? | Nobody wants new devices | Yes; telematics accounts you already have; driver phone otherwise |
Is every feature in every plan? | Or the price doubles at module two | Yes; plans by bookings, own vehicles and users |
Is there a free trial, no setup fee? | Try before you commit | Yes |
What does it not do? | Every product has a list | No route optimisation, no E-Way bill generation, no automatic bank reconciliation |
Ask all twelve on a 30-minute demo
On your own LR, your own trucks and your own drivers. No credit card, no setup fee.
Three ways to run the demo
Bring one LR
Watch it booked, tracked, proved, billed and in the books, and count the screens.
Bring your accountant
Ask for the trial balance after the LR is billed; ask to trace the entry in the day book.
Bring a driver
Have him send a fuel slip on WhatsApp during the call; see where it lands.
What the three "no" answers mean
- Route optimisation. NShine ERP shows loads, trucks and positions; the routing decision stays with the dispatcher.
- E-Way bill generation. The number and validity sit on the LR with a saved report for expiring bills; generation is on the GST portal or your provider.
- Bank reconciliation. The Bank Book gives the entries to match against the statement; what is missing is posted by hand.
If one of those three is the centre of your business, say so on the demo and we will tell you whether the rest is worth it.
Questions that sound important and are not
"Is it cloud?" Everything serious is. "Does it have an app?" The question is whether drivers must use it. "How many reports?" The question is whether the one you need exists; see the reports page for every one by name.
A fair evaluation
- Write down your three worst month-end problems.
- Book a demo and ask the vendor to solve each on screen with your data.
- Take the free trial; run one week alongside your register.
- Have your accountant open the trial balance.
- Decide on what you saw, not on the slide.
Red flags on any demo
The invoice screen has no link to the LR
"Drivers will use the app" without a fallback
Fuel is a total, not a per-km figure
Books are "coming soon" or in a partner product
Watch the product in action
