Fleet cost per km: the real cost of a kilometre, per truck
Freight is quoted per trip or per tonne; the cost moves per kilometre, and most of it is diesel. NShine ERP gives you km per litre and fuel cost per km for every truck, against the mileage you expect. Built for owners who price lanes.

The report
All Vehicles Fuel Efficiency, for any date range, one row per truck, totals at the bottom:
Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
Vehicle | One row per truck |
Avg km/l | Kilometres run divided by litres filled, for the period |
Expected | The mileage set on the vehicle record |
Cost per km | Fuel spend divided by distance |
Distance | From the odometer readings on the fills |
Litres, Spent | Fuel quantity and money for the period |
Distance comes from the odometer at each fill. With an odometer at every fill, distance, km per litre and cost per km fill in per truck; a fill without a reading leaves those columns at zero until the next reading.
How the number is built
Every fill has an odometer
Vehicle, date, odometer, full-tank flag, litres, rate, amount, tax, station, who filled it, paid or not.
Distance between fills
Computed from consecutive odometer readings on the same vehicle.
Km per litre and cost per km
Litres and spend over that distance, per truck and for the fleet.
Expected mileage
A km-per-litre benchmark per vehicle; the dashboard groups trucks as below, meets, missing or no data.
Slips from the pump
Drivers send the slip on WhatsApp; AI Inbox reads litres, amount, station and odometer.
Travel log
Opening and closing reading, total km, start and close time, hours and extra hours per day.

Using it
- Pricing a lane: cost per km times the lane distance is the fuel floor; add driver pay, tolls and the truck's share of EMI from the profit report.
- Comparing two trucks: same route, same load, different km per litre is a service due, a driving habit, or a leak.
- Deciding what to keep: the trucks at the bottom of the efficiency report, month after month, are the ones to sell or fix.
What else goes into a kilometre
Fuel is the computed part. The rest sits in the same system: services with labour and parts in the Vehicle Maintenance Statement, driver payments and expenses in the vehicle profit report, EMIs and depreciation in Schedules.
From fill to cost per km
- The driver fills the truck and sends the slip with the odometer, or the office enters the fill.
- The entry is saved on the vehicle with station, rate, tax and payment status.
- Distance since the last fill is computed; km per litre and cost per km update.
- Trucks below their expected mileage show on the dashboard chart.
- The efficiency report lists everyone, for any period, with Excel export.
