GPS tracker vs transport software: the tracker knows where the truck is; the software knows what it is doing there
Most fleets already have GPS devices and a vendor portal. The portal answers one question: where is the truck now? It cannot say which load it is carrying, what the diesel cost per kilometre, whether the permit is valid, what the driver is owed or whether the trip has been billed. NShine ERP reads the devices you already have and puts the map next to all of that. Built for owners who have the tracker and still run the office on paper.

What each one answers
Question | GPS tracker portal | NShine ERP |
|---|---|---|
Where is the truck now? | Yes, as a dot on a map | Yes, on Live Tracking, read from the same device |
Is it moving, stopped or off? | Yes, with speed | Yes: active, stopped or offline, with speed and last seen |
Which load is it carrying? | No | The booking: LR, customer, driver, pickup and drop-off |
What did diesel cost per km this month? | No | From every fill with odometer: km per litre and cost per km per truck |
Is the permit or insurance valid? | No | Document Tracking with expiry and next-reminder date |
Is the service due? | No | Reminders by kilometres or months, whichever first |
What is the driver owed? | No | Trip pay, advances and expenses on his balance |
Has the trip been billed and paid? | No | Status from Booked to Payment Received; balance and age on the invoice |
Did this truck make money? | No | All Vehicle Profit/Loss: revenue, hire, fuel, driver pay, expenses, profit |
What transport software adds to the tracker
The same map, inside the office
Live Tracking reads the telematics accounts you already pay for. Each vehicle is matched to its device on a per-vehicle Setup list; the ones without a device read NOT SET until you connect one or use the driver phone.
The load behind the dot
Every truck on the map has its bookings: LR number, customer, driver, pickup and drop-off dates, material, E-Way bill. The dispatcher sees position and load together.
Fuel, not just distance
The tracker gives kilometres. A fuel entry with litres, amount, station and odometer gives km per litre and cost per km per truck, with the thirsty ones flagged.
Papers and services
Permits, fitness, insurance and tax with expiry and reminder dates; services reminded by kilometres or months; an Overdue flag on both.
The driver and the owner
Trip pay per booking, advances on the driver’s balance, and for a hired truck the owner’s bill from the same booking with TDS.
The bill
One invoice for many LRs with tax rate, HSN, RCM and TDS; the receipt allocated; balance due and age days; the books posted without a second entry.
Bring your tracker login and one truck
A 30-minute demo where we connect the account, see the truck on the map and book a load on it. No credit card, no setup fee.
What a tracker portal cannot do, and why it is not its fault
A GPS vendor sells devices and a portal to read them. The portal is good at that. It does not know who the customer is, what rate was agreed, which driver is on the truck this week, what the station charged for diesel or whether the plant has paid. None of that comes from the device, so no portal can show it. The gap is not in the tracker; it is between the tracker and the office register.
What transport software does not do
NShine ERP does not replace the GPS device and does not sell tracking on its own. It reads the accounts you already have and the driver phone for trucks without a device. It does not plan or optimise routes, and it does not claim geofence or overspeed alerts; what it shows is status, speed and last seen, next to the booking and the costs. If the only question you ever ask is where the truck is, the portal you have is enough.
Tracker alone, and tracker with the office on one record
Portal plus register
What a fleet with GPS and paper lives with.
- Position known; load known only to whoever booked it
- Kilometres on the portal, diesel on station bills, never together
- Permit expiry found at the checkpost
- Driver advances on a slip
- Which truck made money: a guess
NShine ERP with your devices
The same devices, read by the system that runs the business.
- Position and booking on one screen
- Km per litre and cost per km per truck
- Reminder dates on every paper
- A balance per driver, settled in the payroll run
- Profit per truck in one report
Connecting what you already have
- Add the telematics account you use today under Live Tracking.
- Match each vehicle to its device on the Setup list; trucks without one read NOT SET.
- Use the driver phone for trucks that have no device.
- Book the next load on a tracked truck; the dispatcher sees position and LR together.
- Drivers send fuel slips and PODs on WhatsApp; fuel per km and billing follow from the same booking.
