Tyre tracking: know where every tyre is, how long it has run, and what is left in the store
After diesel, tyres are the biggest running cost of a lorry, and the easiest thing to lose. NShine ERP records each tyre by its serial number, the lorry it is fitted to, the date it went on and what it cost, so a tyre bought is a tyre you can find. Built for fleet owners who have stopped believing the tyre bill.

Why tyres go missing
A lorry runs on six, ten or more tyres, and a fleet of fifty has several hundred of them in use plus a shelf of spares. They are bought in bulk, fitted in a hurry, swapped between lorries at the roadside, sold with a vehicle, retreaded, or quietly replaced with a worn one. Nobody writes any of it down, so the only number the owner ever sees is the total paid to the tyre dealer.
- A new tyre fitted to one lorry turns up on another, or at a dealer, and nobody can prove it
- The store count never matches what was bought minus what was fitted
- The same lorry "needs" new tyres every few months and no one can say why
- A tyre that fails early cannot be claimed because nobody knows when it was fitted or where it was bought
What tyre tracking does
One record per tyre
Each tyre gets its own entry with the serial number from the sidewall, the batch or manufacturing code, the brand and product, and a tyre code of its own.
Which lorry it is on
Every tyre is either Installed on a named vehicle or In Store. Fitting a tyre sets the vehicle and the first-fitted date; all tyres on a lorry can be listed together.
How long it has run
The first-fitted date tells you how many days a tyre has been on that lorry. Compare it against the lorry’s kilometres to see which tyres wear early.
What it cost
Cost, payment type and purchase date on the record, so tyre spend per lorry is the sum of what is fitted to it, not a share of a dealer bill.
Theft and swaps become visible
When a tyre with serial X should be on lorry A and is not, the record says so. Swaps are recorded by changing the vehicle; a tyre that vanishes has a last-known lorry.
Store count that matches
Filter by In Store and count the shelf. Bought minus fitted equals what should be there; the difference is the question to ask the workshop.
Bring one lorry’s tyre invoices
A 30-minute demo where we enter them by serial, fit them to the lorry and show the store count. No credit card, no setup fee.
Before and after
Without tracking
A tyre bill and a shrug.
- Tyres bought by the dozen, fitted from memory
- Store counted once a year, never matching
- A tyre swap between lorries nobody recorded
- Early failures with no fitted date to claim on
- Tyre cost per lorry unknown
With NShine ERP
Every tyre answers for itself.
- Serial, lorry, fitted date and cost on each tyre
- In Store count on screen any day
- Vehicle changed on the record when a tyre moves
- Fitted date and purchase date on hand for a claim
- Tyre spend summed per lorry
Batteries and other assets too
The same screen tracks batteries and other removable assets with a serial number. A battery that has moved between three lorries, or a GPS unit that came with a sold vehicle, gets the same record: category, product, vehicle, status, cost and dates. Tyre codes start with TYR and other assets with AST, so the list can be filtered either way.
Tyres that came with the lorry
A lorry bought second-hand arrives on tyres you did not buy. They are entered with ownership "Vehicle Included" so they are tracked from day one, with no cost of their own, and the first real replacement starts the lorry’s tyre history.
A tyre’s life in the system
- Buy it: enter serial, batch code, product, cost, payment type and purchase date. Status In Store.
- Fit it: pick the lorry and the first-fitted date. Status Installed; it now appears under that vehicle.
- Move it: when the workshop swaps it to another lorry, change the vehicle on the record so the history follows the tyre.
- Check the store: filter In Store and count the shelf against purchases.
- Review a lorry: list its tyres with fitted dates and cost; pair with service reminders for rotation and alignment by kilometres.
